Realizations

Let the walls remain standing,
Till  we realize that hearts,
 Cannot  be divided.

Let the fences spread high,
Till we realize that emotions,
 Cannot  be caged.

Let guns stand guard,
Till we realize our love is
Greater  than our fear.

Let curtains mar our sight,
Till we realize we do not need
Eyes  to see.

Let passports ask questions,
Till we realize there are some questions
That  don’t deserve answers

Let maps separate us
Till we realize lines on a paper
 Can  be erased.

Let the colours on the atlas
Tell my country from yours;
Till we realize we cannot really
Tell  ourselves from each other.

Let names differentiate us
Till we realize that names are but letters joined together
Neither you nor me

Let borders separate us,
Till we realize that crows fly from my land to yours
Without a passport.

Let states partition us
Till we realize that people cannot be partitioned

Let history divide us
Till we realize we share our fragmented history

Let seventy years of separation, make us
Oblivious of the seven thousand years we shared,
Till we realize seventy
is clearly less than seven thousand.

Lets words infuriate us
Till we realize that there are words yet unspoken

Let us fight,
Till we realize that
Family feuds still have the word family in them,
No matter how ugly

Let riots instigate us,
Till we realize that even our hatred
Stems from our love

Let trenches remain,
Till we realize a little earth
Can level the land

Let rivers overflow,
Till we realize that with each flood,
The barren land becomes fertile.

Let the drought persist,
Till we realize that there are more monsoons
Yet to come

Let the shadow lines remain,
Till we realize that shadows move,
If we move.

Let us ignore,
Till we realize that there are realizations
Yet to be made.
