An old post that I found interesting

THE WAYS OF THE WORLD

The last time I posted something solid was on the 12th of October,2016 and guess what! 2017 is already happening and going tight.3 months might seem quite a short span of time for an ordinary man.But in the world of politics, hate speeches, wars and truces, they supply ample time if not more, for unlikely chains of events.

It was against the backdrop of thousands of people, women and children alike, dying at the arms of their own ruler in Aleppo that the mighty Donald Trump was elected  the 45th President of the US. Aleppo served as a warning  sign to US. And US was  that vegetarian example of what can happen when a ruler turns excessively aggressive that he wages a war against his own people! It was only vegetarian because what is happening right now in Syria- the war, the horror and the lust for death is not comparable to the US situation at all.But nevertheless Trump was turning against his own countrymen,(like in Syria)segregating them in terms of their ethnicity, race and religion (somehow not a new technique at all!) and eventually turning them against each other.

Yes, the repercussions are already being felt in US with 'NOT MY PRESIDENT' placards featuring frequently in streets across the country. But how long these will last seems to be the poignant question here.

And as with India, with time, the US will also forgive and forget the follies of the man they elected to power. We were all praises for our Prime Minister and his government, who out of pure and genuine concern for the nation's interest, blatantly brand its own citizens anti nationals( totally free of cost process!) and crush dissenting voices of opinion. But then, the divine interference comes at the right time. November 8 was born as it is every year, but this time, it was here to stay! Goodbye to 500 and 1000 rupees notes and to black money too! The citizens, banks and the RBI was running helter- skelter not knowing what to do next.Limits on withdrawals, limits on deposits, ink marks on the forefinger and no money in banks caused complete mayhem and chaos that the country went nuts queing up in front of banks and ATMs.Surprisingly no big shot was seen outside any of these banks.Even with more than 70 people dead, having to bear the brunt of the economy, the confusion never ended,so much that even the Prime Minister was confused days later whether he had introduced the move to curb black money or for a drive towards cashless economy.

Amidst all this confusion our big man Vijay Mallya escapes easily with a 9000 crore unpaid loan and leaves a hole burnt in the pockets of the aam admi of the country, going right into their already fragile hearts.
And then one fine day,Mr. Bashar al Assad comes out all of a sudden and proclaims his biggest  victory in Aleppo leaving us to wonder about the ways of the world.Pictures of Aylan Kurdi and Omran Daqneesh and those millions of disfigured children flash across our minds. And we stand there, bombarded by the infinite cries of pain and hunger that resonate from across. We still continued to stand there until we were shaken by America's new politics.

UN Security Council Resolution 2334 came in as a big surprise for all global citizens with America standing on the road not taken. It might have hit Israel in the face too, considering that the US was its biggest ally and its moral support ground. Our little moment of joy is overshadowed by the giant silhouette of Donald Trump and his politics which has vowed to offer all sorts of assistance to Israel. We helplessly look at Obama's one final little attempt to make heads turn before he walks out of office after a solid 8 years.

And then comes a ray of hope again with the Syrian truce of December 29,vowing to end the war entering its 6th year.Again, its just a tiny ray of hope with truces having been repeated in the history of the Syrian war devoid of any utility.Nonetheless, a ray of hope is still a ray of hope.

And amidst all these political tensions and rivalry, we behave as if we're least bothered and prepare for 2017.We sit glued to our smartphone sets, whatsapping everybody a Happy 2017. We dance and party all night and wait for the crackers to explode in all colours and designs. Human Beings!!
