Why Are We Silent??

Death toll in Kashmir has risen to 85.Young boys and girls like 11 year olds Khushboo and Nasir Shafi have been killed.Pellet injuries have left hundreds of adults and children blind and injured. The dreams and hopes of an entire population is in turmoil.These children, most of them distinction holders and extremely talented, had dreams of a peaceful future.They dreamt of being doctors,engineers and civil servants to help their people come out of the troubled times.They wanted to reach great heights and become great personalities.
Imagine your brothers,sisters and children who were leading perfectly normal lives till yesterday, disappearing all of a sudden today and reappearing some days later,covered in blood,cold and dead.Every morning in school, most of us raise our right arms to say that all Indians are my brothers and sisters.Aren't Kashmiris our brothers and sisters as well?Then,why isn't there a collective outrage when it comes to the people of Kashmir?Why are we silent?????

Nizamuddin Dargah at night is a beauty unparalleled. Though I've been to the place quite a few times and all in the mornings and despised the state of the place at all times, the dargah at night made me fall in love with each of its corners that I despised and each of its people that I felt sorry for.  There is something magical about its air once the sun sets. Adorned in the soft glow of  yellow lights and coloured papers that hang mid air, the dargah and its narrow alleyways are a sight to behold. And then there are those small shops inside its alleys, selling rose petals, colourful 'chadars', athars, rings and tasbis that beam in the glory of the night, adding to the mystique of the place. As a qawwali enthusiast, I've literally grown up listening to qawwalis that sing praise of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya (most of which were composed by Amir Khusro, whose tomb lies just opposite the sufi saint's).
